Hi, I’m Fabio, and I’m Italian
Cooking has always been my greatest passion. Over the years, I’ve found myself making the same recipe over and over again until I got it just right—whether it’s homemade bread, fresh cheese, risotto, pasta, pizza, or delicious vegan dishes. For me, cooking is a journey of learning, patience, and love.
I’ve also learned that simply reading a recipe or watching a video isn’t always enough. Some techniques, traditions, and little secrets can only be understood through experience, and that’s exactly what I hope to share with you.
This passion inspired me to create The Italian—a place where I can share my recipes, experiences, and the joy of cooking. My goal is to cook alongside you, wherever you are, and help you feel confident in your own kitchen.
I love experimenting with new recipes and ingredients, always adapting them to my own taste while staying true to quality. I believe in using fresh, wholesome ingredients and eating a healthy, balanced diet. I also enjoy learning about the people behind the food—the farmers, artisans, and producers who make exceptional ingredients possible.
I write in the simplest way I can because I believe cooking should be enjoyable and accessible to everyone. Along with my recipes, I hope to share useful tips, techniques, and little tricks that will make cooking easier and more rewarding.
Cooking is an expression of creativity. Even if you don’t think you’re creative, every meal you prepare tells a story. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands and sharing it with the people you love.
My philosophy is simple:
I’ll show you how I cook, and I’d love to cook with you.
If you enjoy this blog, then we already have something in common.
My love for cooking began in childhood. I grew up watching my grandmother and my father cook in our family’s small trattoria in Como, a beautiful town on Lake Como in northern Italy, surrounded by mountains and just a short distance from the Swiss border. Those moments shaped who I am and taught me that food is much more than nourishment—it is tradition, family, and love.
In 1997, I moved to Toronto, where I still live today. Although Canada has become my home, my Italian roots and traditions will always be part of me. Like so many Italians who have built a life here, I will always be grateful for the warmth, kindness, and opportunities that Canada and its people have given me.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope my recipes inspire you, my experiences encourage you, and together we can discover the simple joy of sharing great food.
Welcome to my kitchen!
